Alex Pierson, executive cfficer of the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario, has been appointed as a committee member for the Bereavement Authority of Ontario’s (BAO) Faith-based Advisory Committee.

The mandate of this committee is to provide the CEO/Registrar with expert advice on matters affecting the bereavement sector.

"I extend hearty congratulations to him on this appointment," said Archbishop Anne Germond, metropolitan. "Alex brings years of knowledge and expertise in this area which he generously shares with each of the seven dioceses in Ontario."

In the appointment letter, BAO Board Chair Glenda Brindle noted that they received a strong response to the Call for Nominations for this volunteer committee from numbers of eligible applicants, which makes this appointment all the more significant.

"We give thanks for those who have responsibility for the care and maintenance of the cemeteries in their church yards, thus honouring the lives of those buried in them," said Archbishop Germond.
