& AFFORDABLE HOUSING

RESOURCES

Communities across the province of Ontario are experiencing a significant crisis of homelessness and housing affordability that increases marginalization and social isolation for many of our most vulnerable citizens. This crisis affects communities large and small, urban, suburban, rural and Indigenous. This crisis has been identified as a priority area for action by the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario, in line with the 2013 Joint Assembly Declaration calling on Anglicans to learn about issues of poverty and homelessness, advocate for government action, and pray for “safe, affordable, and adequate housing for all.”

The Anglican Diocese of Ottawa has produced a presentation for parishes, that can be downloaded and adapted for your Diocese/Community.

Additionally, the Ven. PJ Hobbs submitted an article regarding Homelessness and Affordable Housing to Crosstalk, the Diocesan Newspaper for Ottawa. This article can be viewed through the link below.

Welcome…Home is a mission born out of a shared vision of the Youth Secretariat of the Anglican Church of Canada, and the Program Committee for Youth Ministry (PCYM) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) to generate public awareness of the increasingly high rates of homelessness within our communities today, advocating for equitable and innovative approaches of tackling homelessness, and praying for safe, affordable and adequate housing for all. This initiative was first experienced at CLAY 2019. Click here for more information. For postcards, click here.

"How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses help?"
